:)

Hurray! Just get my CV done for the internships applications for HSBC and Bank of China in Hong Kong for the coming summer holidays. It is seriously competitive and I really wish I could get in and gain more experience! Although doing placement was the primarily reason that I came to Aston and now for some reasons I decided to go on to the final year directly but still, I wanted to something similar and gain some hand on experience to have a successful career after graduate.
Here is the link if anyone has the same thoughts or decisions of mine, this link might help!

weekend trip.

I went to Hastings for the weekend to visit my friend, it is a small town but I still found something cute in town centre.

And, where is the ball?Although it is a considerably boring town than Birmingham, it’s really comfortable and relaxing.
Got to go for a birthday party now, update soon! :)
Have a nice weekend!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New year and Valentine’s Day!
There is a Cantonese saying "Wash away the dirt on ninyabat" and so the first thing that my sister and I did to celebrate the big festival was cleaning the house to sweep away the ill-fortune in the past year in hope to make ways for incoming luck.
The second thing is one of my favorite activities in Chinese New year which is buying new clothes, shoes and getting a new hair cut as it symbolize a fresh start. The first day of the Festival this year was on Sunday therefore we are planning to shop in the coming week.
I also went to the New Year celebration held by different Asian societies in the guild last Friday, there was lion dance performance, different games and many delicious authentic Chinese food. It is really warm and sweet to meet and celebrate with many Chinese students here.
The biggest event of Chinese New Year is having dinner with family, watching fireworks, playing around with firecrackers, having New Year cake and other traditional food. Although I missed it again :S , I phoned my mum and tell her that I miss the home made food so much, and she promised to make me some in summer. :D
Last but not least, wish you all prosperity in the year of tiger!

Time for a break...

Hurray, finally done with the first coursework of this term! Yeah! I really wanted to go and play basketball tomorrow, haven’t played for about two months because of the weather, the exams and the coursework, guess I have been gaining weight again.

By the way, its Chinese New year soon! Here I would like to recommend all Chinese students and other international students a really good way to make phone calls back to home which is Skype. There is a new plan which we can make unlimited phone calls for just around three pounds a month! By using this extremely cheap plan, I think I am going to call each of my friends to say happy New Year! :P One year left and then I can celebrate Chinese new year with my family and friends! I miss home, I miss everything especially during this meaningful festival. : (

Twenty ten!

First post in Twenty ten! Happy New Year! Hope 2010 is filled with joy and happiness!

Yeah! Exams are done :) and it’s time for coursework :S . Exam period was even harder to get through with the icy wind in the snows. It was bitterly cold throughout the Christmas holidays and exam period, I had never experienced such freezing season but it was great fun playing in the snow though I slipped on the snow for a few times. :P

The exams went pretty well though I am not that confident with essays as it seems to be quite subjective, but at least I tried, it all a matter of luck now.

My sister brought me a grievous incident from Hong Kong that my cousin’s newly employed Pilipino maid had just find out that there is a tumor on her brain. I am sorry to hear that and I really hope she will be alright soon. Pray for her and her family...... all the best!

Merry Chirstmas! :)

Here I wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

My first Christmas holidays in UK is going pretty good so far, I am so glad that there is quite a number of Hong Kong people are staying as well or else it would be so lonely and I have to spend the Christmas with the pile of notes and textbooks. :(

Most of us feel so weird when there are no one on the road on 25th the Christmas day, it’s usually crowded and people stay out till late night in Hong Kong, in UK we can’t even go out to dine cause every single shop is closed! Now I realized that its family day and people stays at home. How sad :(

It’s quite bored staying here actually but yea, got to study, study and study. Anyway, strive hard for the best results and have fun in summer!

Best of luck to the exams everyone and hope the new year is blessed :)

Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!! ;)

Week 9 =)

Finally I can feel a sense of relief! Yay, business game presentation and business plan are done! Although there are still several group works and assignments left to be done before Christmas break, I feel so much better than the past few weeks. It was like group meeting and group assignments every single day. Many friends and I were even sick due to imbalance diet as well as insufficient rest.
I am so looking forward to the Christmas break cos it will be the first time that I am staying in UK. I shall do some revision as I won’t do if I am in Hong Kong and perhaps do some shopping in London as I heard that there will be crazy Christmas sales. :P
So, work hard and play hard :D
The two Chinese societies from Aston University and Uni of Birmingham are holding a joint uni Christmas ball tomorrow, so one more relaxing and enjoyable night before doing the pile of work. I hope it will be a memorable night as I haven’t tried attending a ball in the UK. =)
Have a nice weekend too!=)

Group work going on and on….

Hello! Sorry for not updating for a long time. Had a really hectic month, after get the accommodation thing sorted, it’s time for all the group works especially the business game! Thanks God my group presentation is next Thursday, we still got extra time to rehearse it and finish the business plan beforehand. I am getting so nervous when I see students dressing in suits walking around campus, this is my first formal presentation, and I am seriously hoping I won’t ruin the whole thing. It is an extremely time consuming project but really learning something from it =] Best of luck to my sisters group as she is doing the presentation tomorow.^^

Back to Aston=)

Week one is coming to an end. Unfortunately, I still haven’t fully settled down yet. I am now living at friend’s place. The apartments around Aston had all gone and it’s quite annoying that every time it comes to paper work, the apartment had taken by someone else, have to wait for good news from campus in the meantime.
Wish me luck><.
I have chosen international management and financial accounting streams this year. I heard that the work load is extremely high. Besides the workload, I think it is still a hard time to get a good job now, so I guess I am not going to have a placement year next year, just focus on the work and hopefully graduated within two years time.
Let me just briefly share about the past summer, it was the best summer that I have ever had so far. I have travelled to Taiwan with my family in early July, hardly forget those tasty foods! I have also joined the Aston four days three nights orientation camp in Hong Kong during September, glad to meet all Chinese freshers and returners, memorable times!
Lecture now=) update soon!

Back~

Finally back to Hong Kong! Most year one students have already finished their exams and back to their home. I wish everyone have a meaningful and joyful summer, have a safe trip back home. I also wish I could get the driving license successfully before I leave Hong Kong, I am so excited as well as anxious about it:) . By the way, the solutions to the exams interrupted by the fire alarm have also announced. I am very happy about it as I am so careless that I haven’t brought the notes back to Hong Kong, I am not prepared for another one. The last thing that I have to sort out is the accommodation for next year, I am still waiting for my friend's decision. Come on, speed up:P
Hurray! I can finally play ball tomorrow! The weather has been so annoying throughout the past week. Date me if anyone of you wanted to play ball when you get back Hong Kong.:)

ONE ONE ONE!

Finally one exam left! Hurray! Time flies so fast!
I think I did quite good in all the exams that I have finished but pretty sad that the exam of Operation Management was terminated by the fire alarm on Monday. Fortunately is that I can still go back on scheduled date as the exam will not be retaken this exam period. I am so excited! but on the other hand quite worry too as there are few more confirmed cases of Swine flu in Hong Kong and they are all from overseas students going back, taking Cathay Pacific which is same as me. ><
I am also quite concern about the first reaction of my family in the airport, it must be” You have gained weight again, Angie!!” haha!
Well, after the last exam tomorrow, I have to make some plans for the summer holiday, spend some time playing basketball with my best friends, probably some work and of course go on a travel with my family and most importantly, to lose weights! haha! I am sure my friends and family will force me to lose weight. :)
Once again, good luck! Its the last one for most business students!

Five left!

5 exams left!
Yeah! I miss my sweet sweet home!
The international perspectives in organization exam today and the Spanish exam yesterday were quite okay for me. Hope I can do well cos I have quite a few sleeplessness nights these days, perhaps I am too nervous about the exams, and I guess I did uttered some Spanish words in my sleep last night. :P
I kept reading my notes and the news all night, watching the documentary films about Sichuan Province. I nearly cried all night, really wanted to go home and give a big hug to my family.
Gonna revise now, good luck everyone :)

512

The first anniversary of earthquake which hit Sichuan on 12 May last year.
Hope the reports about the "shoddy building of schools" can be realized soon, giving those parents who lost their children at least a clear explanation and punish those who deserves to.
May God bless and protect us.
RIP.

H151 Swine Flu

There was a first confirmed case of Swine flu in Hong Kong few days ago. The infected patient is from Mexico. It makes Hong Kong people really running scared now including my friends and family.
I saw quite a number of posts in the discussion forum saying that Mexicans should not visit other countries until the whole thing is over and their access to certain places is denied too. Although I think it is quite unfair for Mexicans as most of them do not displayed symptoms of Swine flu and the officers said that it appeared that the outbreak could be leveling off, but what I think is prevention is always better than cure.
So, I am quite happy that the Hong Kong governors learn from the SARS experience, immediately separate all the tourists and workers that have contacted with that Mexican and the first class emergency alarm is given.
My family is quite worry about me, as there is 16 confirmed cases in UK. They asked me to keep extraordinarily clean, tidy and clear of my room and personal hygiene. Be cautious everyone!^^
Examinations are coming in a week. Good luck!

presentation><

Week 23, second last teaching week! I have finished the mock oral presentation in Spanish with my group mate two days ago. It’s really sad that two third of our class dropped this module, and so there were only five people done the presentation on Thursday. After hearing what’s on the exams and comments for me to improve for the final oral, I feel like giving up too. Except that this term is getting harder and harder and there are lots to memorize, I guess it might also due to the continuously changing of teachers. It is hard for them to teach us as they do not know our progress and level, and at the same time, it is hard for us to digest lots of materials in different teaching styles. Anyway, “ I will be a fool to give up cos the goal is near, I will move on, I will go on”. (I really love this song if anyone knows which song I am talking about.) This song was one of my graduation songs when I left my secondary school in Hong Kong and every time I heard it, it makes me cry. Well, I hope the remaining students in the class can go on as well, take the exam and I hope our teacher who taught us throughout the first term can get well soon and back to university next year.

PLYMOUTH

Pictures in Plymouth... :)This is one of the most famous places in Plymouth, plenty of restaurants and bars besides the sea and it’s specially crowded at night.
Expensive apartments and hotel with a really nice sea view.
There are few teenagers diving dangerously in a super cold weather.

Really comfortable! There are lots of families enjoying their weekend over there.
Sea view :)

8th April

Easter holiday have started around a week, I am now living in my friend's host in Cornwall. It's my first time to live with a typical English family. They are really nice! It is quite funny and is a really good experience.
One of the recent news is quite upsetting. Natural disaster is unfortunately inevitable. While the large scale removal and rebuild in Sichuan Province is going on, the Italian earthquake is killing people on the other hand. I sincerely wish the family or friends of the victims can be brave and courageous to hold on to their lives, likes all the children who lost their parents in Sichuan did. Our life is really precious!
"Powerful Italian quake kills many " bbc-monday 6th April
"At least 90 people are believed dead and tens of thousands homeless after an earthquake hit L'Aquila and other towns in central Italy, rescuers say.
About 1,500 people were injured and many people are still missing as rescuers search desperately for survivors trapped beneath rubble.
The 6.3-magnitude quake struck at 0330 (0130 GMT) close to L'Aquila.
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who is in the city, has promised a "record number of rescuers".
"Nobody has been left on their own," he said, adding that a field hospital was being set up to help local medical services. Earlier, he declared a state of emergency.
Altogether, 26 cities and towns have been damaged, officials say. In L'Aquila, 95km (60 miles) north-east of Rome, between 3,000 and 10,000 buildings in the medieval city may have been damaged.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 people are believed to have lost their homes and the authorities are working to find them shelter before nightfall. "
I am going to barbeque now, update soon! =] Have a nice holiday!
