Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New year and Valentine’s Day!
There is a Cantonese saying "Wash away the dirt on ninyabat" and so the first thing that my sister and I did to celebrate the big festival was cleaning the house to sweep away the ill-fortune in the past year in hope to make ways for incoming luck.
The second thing is one of my favorite activities in Chinese New year which is buying new clothes, shoes and getting a new hair cut as it symbolize a fresh start. The first day of the Festival this year was on Sunday therefore we are planning to shop in the coming week.
I also went to the New Year celebration held by different Asian societies in the guild last Friday, there was lion dance performance, different games and many delicious authentic Chinese food. It is really warm and sweet to meet and celebrate with many Chinese students here.
The biggest event of Chinese New Year is having dinner with family, watching fireworks, playing around with firecrackers, having New Year cake and other traditional food. Although I missed it again :S , I phoned my mum and tell her that I miss the home made food so much, and she promised to make me some in summer. :D
Last but not least, wish you all prosperity in the year of tiger!
